Car and Driver’s 10 Best Cars

Early last month the auto publication Car and Driver released their 10 Best Cars for 2025, which they describe as “our annual celebration of the year’s automotive superstars.”

The release of this list is a much-celebrated event by many auto journalists and car companies, and its scarce nature arguably has everything to do with it.

There’s something about the fact that the list doesn’t get updated too often and that the list isn’t too long that makes the opportunity to be on it all the more special.

This same attitude can be applied to any finite choice in life whose finite nature we might otherwise feel anxious or disappointed about.

Most people aren’t going to be able to see every place on Earth that they want to see in a lifetime, but knowing this can actually give us a greater appreciation of the places we end up choosing to allocate our limited time and attention to.

Same for relationships: the fact that we can’t possibly maintain friendships with everyone makes the friendships we choose in the end all the more meaningful.

What makes Car and Driver’s 10 Best list so meaningful isn’t just about the cars that made it, it’s about the thousands of cars that didn’t.
