curators can’t show you everything

--

The paper editor curates news worth reading.

The head chef curates combinations of flavors and aromas worth consuming.

The art gallery manager curates beautiful creative work worth viewing.

When you didn’t spend the better part of the last decade covering the news, undergoing a chef apprenticeship, or studying the arts, it’s really nice to have someone who did the work to show you some of the very best examples of their craft.

But before you decide to outsource all information foraging to the handiwork of curators, consider that you will miss whatever good work a curator doesn’t see.

The full breadth of what can be discovered is only available when you’re willing to pay mind to the uncharted territory that a curator will not look at.
