Finding your footing

In my first job I naively expected to be onboarded and ready to participate in projects within a few months.

It ended up taking closer to 6 months, and even then I still felt like I had barely scratched the surface of what there was to learn.

Meanwhile, I was overcome with a sense of uncertainty: “will I ever figure things out?”

In time I did.

I think that’s the answer to most of our concerns about whether or not we’ll make progress on something: time.

If you’re starting something new and feel a bit uneasy about it, just know that it’s okay — expected even.

It takes time for all of us to find our footing.
