How much should that opinion matter?
An astrophysicist created a video called “Cosmic Eye” that puts life into perspective.
It begins with an overhead view of a woman named Louise lying in a grass field on a sunny day.
The view zooms out until Louise becomes a little dot on Earth.
The view zooms out even more until Earth is a little dot in a galaxy.
You begin to realize two things when you see this.
Realization #1: Louise is just a little dot in space. We are just little dots in space.
Realization #2: Every opinion is the fleeting thought of a tiny little dot in space.
These opinions will be gone and lose all meaning before the universe has a chance to blink.
If an opinion is helpful then you can give it meaning by letting it matter and shape you.
If an opinion is not helpful then remember it was insignificant to begin with and toss it out.
