Human, too.

The people around you are human, too.

This sounds like such a painfully obvious and silly thing to say, yet it’s possible to sometimes forget this basic truth in the heat of the moment or when our ego gets the better of us.

We are more alike than we are different.

We share many of the same basic desires: to be healthy, to be secure, and to have meaning.

We share many of the same basic vulnerabilities: we get angry when we feel wronged, we may not represent the best version of ourselves when we’re tired or stressed, and our reasoning is subject to being flawed at times.

Before you jump to judgment about someone, remember your shared humanity, try putting yourself in their shoes, and consider giving a little grace.

In the same way you would want the support of another person when you may not be at your best, aim to lift the people around you up.
