It takes time for light to travel

The sunlight you see right now was emitting from the sun about 8 minutes and 20 seconds ago.

It takes time for light to travel.

There is this strong intuition that the sun we see is the sun now, but it’s not.

It takes time for light to travel.

We live in a flick-your-thumb/click-the-button, get-your-thing world.

1-Click checkouts, bottomless feeds, and double-tap-to-like have many of us demanding that all causes have some kind of immediate effects.

In an interview with Tom Bilyeu, Simon Sinek asked him: “At what moment did your spouse love you?”

Bilyeu looked puzzled for a moment, which only helped Sinek make his point.

Sinek said something to the effect of: “It’s an impossible question. It wasn’t a moment — it was the little things, grabbing them a glass of water at the end of the day and asking them how their day was every day that eventually led to the conclusion: we are in love.”

The same example could be said of careers, friendships, large-scale projects, and the acquisition of new skills.

It takes a lot of little things over a long period of time to reach significant heights and depths in these areas.

Just because you cannot see light emitting from what you’re doing today doesn’t mean it’s not there.

It takes time for light to travel.
