Long games (returning 2/19)

Short games are the kind that take days, weeks, and sometimes months.

Long games take years, decades — a lifetime even.

These games exist in every area of life — professionally and personally.

Confusing a long game for a short one all but guarantees that you will quit too soon.

A friend who recently got into exercising was disheartened when he didn’t observe any results after 30 days and wanted to quit…he was confusing the long game that is physical health for a short one.

I can’t help but wonder how his interpretation of his progress would've differed had he known he known he was playing a long game to begin with.

Instead of seeing his efforts as a disappointing failure, he might’ve instead recognized them as a positive step forward in a long but rewarding journey.

It’s much easier to stay positive, persist, and remain resilient throughout a long game when you acknowledge at the outset that that’s what you’re signing up for.
