Posture

I respect my grandfather a lot for his drive and entrepreneurial spirit: he started his career selling instant noodles door-to-door, then supplements, and eventually snacks that you could find in every grocery store.

He only left me with one piece of advice: keep your back straight.

This was partly due to the language barrier — he spoke Taiwanese… I did not (at least not very well).

I like to think that his emphasis on posture wasn’t just about my physical stature, but also about the attitude one should strive for when facing challenges:

Do what you can, push forward, push hard, don’t let it weigh you down… keep your back straight.

The posture we hold in the face of a challenge can make all the difference.

It’s the difference between believing you can solve something and believing you can’t.

It’s the difference between choosing to narrow your focus, and chipping away at stubborn roadblocks, versus choosing to withdraw and pick something easier.

Tenacity is partly a mind game.

Every time you face a worthy challenge, you’re playing it.

Every time you find a way to adopt a posture that allows you to push forward, you win.
