Step changes
I posed two questions in advance to a friend I’m catching up with soon that I think we could all benefit from answering:
- What is something you’ve had ample opportunity to do over the last year but haven’t done yet?
- Why haven’t you done it yet?
Our routines do a remarkable job of keeping us in place and that can be a good and bad thing.
I recently learned about the term “step change” — it refers to a particularly significant change, a dramatic improvement.
An unusual change of this kind is almost always the product of an unusual act on our part, and what better place to start than doing the thing you’ve known for awhile that you need to do.
But the point is you haven’t done it. There are reasons for this and you may or may not be fully aware of them yet.
So start there, reflect, dig deep. Be honest with yourself. Be realistic.
