The easy choice or the best choice

I just received a book of aphorisms from Kevin Kelly titled “Excellent Advice for Living — Wisdom I Wish I’d Known Earlier”.

This is my favorite one so far:

“When you can’t decide, ask yourself, ‘Which choice will pay off more later than now?’ The easy choice pays off right away. The best choice will pay off at the end.”

The only thing a path of least resistance guarantees is minimal friction; what it scarcely offers is lasting fulfillment.

The things we cherish most in life are often things we fought for one way or another.
