Today is a miracle

Today is a miracle.

You’re not owed today; you’re lucky to woken up this morning and been welcomed by it.

Today is the only day you’re guaranteed to have.

Tomorrow and every conceivable moment in the future on the other hand, however certain they may feel, are never guaranteed.

It’s important to full embrace today and to treat it as if it were your last (even if you don’t fully believe that it will be).

Ask yourself: how would you approach the last day of your life?

Would you drag your feet and lament about all the problems, unmet goals, and contentious relationships you have?

Or would you embrace your life for what it is — good and bad — and give yourself permission to be happy?

Would you choose to die on the same hills or would you let certain issues go?

Would you still maintain grudges or would you be quick to forgive?

Would you continue to avoid certain issues you know are important but make you uncomfortable or would you finally confront them?

Stop taking tomorrow for granted; no one is granted it.

It’s important to think about how you’d approach the last day of your life and to live each day as if it were your last because one day, perhaps without you even knowing, it really will be your last day of life.

This understanding, alone, should be sufficient motivation to engage with the things close to the heart and to set aside the frivolous bits of life that aren’t worth spending energy on.
