verse jumping

In the film Everything Everywhere All At Once, the lead character is able to unlock her potential by accessing different versions of herself from different universes.

In order to gain access to these different universes, she must envision the version of herself that she wants to become and then do something that she wouldn’t normally do. The second step is key, without doing this she can’t jump to a different universe.

The way verse jumping works in the film actually has decent applicability in real life:

In order to discover other ways you could be living your life, you generally have to be willing to do thing things that you aren’t used to doing — things that are often outside of your comfort zone.

If you wanted to discover if another career is a better fit for you, you have to be willing to be a beginner again.

If you want to discover other human connections that have the potential to be lifelong and fulfilling, you have to be willing to end any relationships that are no longer fulfilling to make space for new relationships which, by the way, you will have to build from the ground up. .

“What if?” is one of life’s most enticing questions that we often can answer as long as we’re willing to make a change — to try something different.

Scary? Yes. Intimidating? Yes. Challenging? Yes.

But possible.
