Who are you in this next moment?

If you’re happy at this moment, you’re inclined to be happy in the next.

If you’re upset at this moment, you’re inclined to be upset in the next.

This bias for continuity is so strong that it’s easy to forget that, on some level, how we show up in each moment is a choice.

If you like how you’re showing up now — if it’s helpful — you can choose to continue.

If you don’t like how you’re showing up now — if it’s not helpful — you can choose to show up differently in the next moment.

States of mind are not places you arrive at, they are not destinations.

They are choices.
